DIY for Women

As part of our commitment to widening access to construction and practical skills, we are developing a dedicated DIY for Women workshop series.

Women remain underrepresented in construction and trade environments, and many report feeling excluded from traditional learning spaces. DIY for Women is designed to create a supportive, welcoming environment where participants can build practical skills and confidence at their own pace.

The sessions will focus on:

  • Understanding and safely using tools

  • Tackling common household repairs

  • Practical problem-solving skills

  • Building confidence in hands-on environments

The aim is not only to teach specific tasks, but to empower participants with the knowledge and confidence to approach DIY independently.

These workshops are suitable for complete beginners as well as those looking to refresh or strengthen existing skills.

Further information, including dates and booking details, will be available soon.

A Skills-Based Approach

Where appropriate, this service can be delivered as a supported learning opportunity for our volunteers. In these cases, the work may be offered free of charge, enabling individuals to gain hands-on experience, build confidence, and develop practical skills in a supervised setting.

Why do we take this approach?

Community organisations receive valuable practical support

Volunteers gain meaningful, real-world experience

Local skills and pathways into green employment are strengthened
